Rethinking Style

Post Alpha submission; nerves are high, and stress is running wild. Yet, we decided to rethink the style of game we wanted to produce. Pre-alpha, we were decided on a low poly style walking sim; taking inspiration from existing games such as Virginia, Firewatch, and Journey.

Yet, after reviewing the look of the grey-boxed environment we had produced, decided to steer from the low poly vibe, and adopt a higher poly stylised look; reminiscent of Hanna Barbera cartoons.

This resulted in a remodeling stage, wherein we took most of the models we made, and edited them to suite this new style.

Below is a comparison of the before and after.

With This remodeling stage to be applied across the board, the next stages in the process will be to remodal and reimport these updated models into the game engine.
